50% Off Second Guest + Kids Sail FREE!

You guys, this is an AWESOME promotion from Royal Caribbean that expires at the end of this month.

Right now, most sailings 4 nights or longer qualify for this promotion where the second guest is 50% off and kids 12 and under sail for FREE!  This can big big savings if you have a large family!!  If your kids are older, then 3rd and/or 4th guests are 25% off, so while they aren’t “free,” they are discounted!!

There are several date exclusions to this promotion, and you guessed it, 99% of them are when the kids aren’t in school.  But…if you are those parents who don’t mind taking their children out of school for a long weekend cruise (remember, 4 nights is the minimum), then you can save a lot of money!!

The first sailings that qualify for this discount do not begin until 9/01/2018, and excluded dates include Thanksgiving (11/17/2018-11/23/2018), Christmas (12/17/2018-1/01/2019), President’s Day (2/15/2019-2/18/2019), Spring Break (3/16/2019-3/30-2019), and Holy Week/Easter (4/13/2019-4/23/2019).  The promo runs for sailings through 5/31/2019.

For those of you local to me in the Atlanta area, you might notice that our spring break is NOT excluded, so we can most definitely take advantage of these incredible rates when the kids are actually out of school!!

I will say that I have quoted this week a LOT recently, and just about ALL of the available sailings for the first week of April are either a typical Bahamian cruise or Western Caribbean.  There is an awesome looking Southern Caribbean cruise out of San Juan that would be super fun, but it requires round trip flights along with your cruise fare.  But maybe the savings could justify the flight cost.

Let’s take a look at two of the more popular sailings that week:

Oasis of the Seas, 7 Night Western Caribbeanzipline

  • 3/31/19 – Port Canaveral
  • 4/01/19 – At Sea
  • 4/02/19 – Labadee, Haiti
  • 4/03/19 – Falmouth, Jamiaca
  • 4/04/19 – Cruising
  • 4/05/19 – Cozumel, Mexico
  • 4/06/19 – Cruising
  • 4/07/19 – Port Canaveral

Looking at pricing on this sailing for a family of 4 with 2 children 12 or under:

  • Inside Cabins start at $2473.80
  • Oceanview Cabins start at $2615.80
  • Oceanview Balcony Cabins start at $3045.80

Freedom of the Seas, 7 Night Southern Caribbean

  • 3/31/19 – San Juan, Puerto RicoFreedom
  • 4/01/19 – Basseterre, St.Kitts
  • 4/02/19 – St.Johns, Antigua
  • 4/03/19 – Castries, St.Lucia
  • 4/04/19 – Bridgetown, Barbados
  • 4/05/19 – Cruising
  • 4/06/19 – Philipsburg, St.Maarten
  • 4/07/19 – San Juan, Puerto Rico

Looking at pricing on this sailing for a family of 4 with 2 children 12 or under:

  • Inside Cabins start at $1958.28
  • Oceanview Cabins start at $2288.28
  • Oceanview Balcony Cabins start at $3117.28

Something to keep in mind regarding these prices is that while they do include all of your taxes and port fees, they do not include gratuities or travel insurance.  Cruise Care on both of these sailings would be $236 for the entire family, and gratuities are recommended at $101.50 per person.  Even after that, an inside cabin on Oasis of the Seas would be $2879.80 without Cruise Care.  That is 7 full days that includes your accommodations, food, beverages, and entertainment for a family of 4 for UNDER $3000. That breaks down to $411.40 a day or $102.85 per person, per day.

If you have never cruised, I might not start out with a full 7 night cruise, especially if you can be prone to motion sickness.  I would prefer you start out with a 3 or 4 night cruise to “test the waters out,” pun intended.  For this promo, you would need to start with a minimum 4 night cruise, and there are some great options for shorter sailings!  There is even a fun 5 night sailing that also hits up Key West!
