2016 is coming to an end, and 2017 is right around the corner. Looking back, this year was full of Disney memories for me.
We kicked off 2016 with Marathon Weekend at Walt Disney World, followed soon by Princess Half Marathon Weekend in February. We headed back down in April for the inaugural Star Wars Half Marathon Weekend. The first two races were great, but Star Wars left a lot lacking, in my opinion. You can read my full review here. We skipped the revamped Wine & Dine Half Marathon Weekend, since we visited at the beginning of October and didn’t want to do so many back to back trips. My husband and I even snuck in a quick trip over the summer without our daughter right before a Royal Caribbean cruise to Key West.
Our Disney travel habits might be changing this year, since our daughter will be turning 3 in April. We’ve been annual pass holders for several years, now, but that might change soon. Our passes expire in May, and we are unsure if we want to splurge and get a third pass for her, too. If you have an annual pass now, you know that there is no discounted pass for children – everyone 3 and up pays the same price. Since the AP overhaul last year, the prices have taken a pretty big jump. We need to re-evaluate our plans and see if it’s going to be beneficial to get one for her and renew ours this year or not.
As for our future runDisney plans, we’ve decided to just stick with Marathon Weekend this year. The general crowds are actually pretty low that week, and the atmosphere of the runs is very different than other race weekends. Princess Weekend last year proved to be an absolute madhouse at the expo. Just a little too much estrogen for me. LOL! After our disappointment with the Star Wars Half Marathon Weekend, we wanted to skip this year and see if they make some much needed improvements before registering for 2018. We will be at Disney for the Star Wars races in April, just not participating.
Our big trip this year will be our first Disney cruise just after the Star Wars Half Marathon Weekend on board the Disney Dream. We’ll be celebrating our daughter’s third birthday, and maybe a trip to the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique on board. I can’t wait to take her on her first cruise, although I’m a bit nervous about how all three of us sleeping in the same room will go. We’ve been spending our WDW trips at Wyndham Bonnet Creek in a one bedroom suite, so sleeping together in the same room should be fairly interesting.
2016 was also the year I made a big move and left my former agency for Kingdom Destinations. Because of this move, I am now able to help clients book destinations outside of Disney. If you haven’t taken the time to like my new Facebook page, you can do so here! I share a lot of information and pics there that I don’t share here. I also run occasional contests that are super easy to enter and win!
I know I have a lot of blogging to catch up on. My husband took a lot of AH-MAZING pics during our fall trip this year, and I still want to share with you the photos from our Disney/Royal Caribbean/Universal Orlando trip my husband and I took over the summer. I suppose now that the temperatures are finally getting cooler here in Georgia, it would be a great time to remember warmer temps!
