Changes Coming to the Dining Plan?

Several guests and travel agents were sent into a tizzy yesterday and today when some character meals were showing as 2 table service credits on Disney’s website.  As of today, the only character dining experiences that “cost” 2 table service credits on the dining plan are Cinderella’s Royal Table and Mickey’s Backyard BBQ.  * Mickey’s BBQ is technically a dinner show, but does feature character interaction.  They do not actively come to each table like at other character meals, nor do they sign autographs.

Is this a hint at something to come down the road?  In all honesty, with all the recent increases and surcharges Disney has added and experimented with, I really wouldn’t put it past them to make all character meals 2 table service credits.  If not all, then at least the high demand meals, such as Chef Mickey’s or Akershus.

I don’t think this will happen anytime soon, as this will really upset clients that are already booked under the popular Free Dining promotion for fall dates and already have their advanced dining reservations (or ADRs) in place.  But we’re getting close to the release of 2017 package pricing, and this would be an ideal time to make changes to 2017 packages, including details and coverage of the 2017 Disney Dining Plan.  I’m not saying it’s going to happen, just that it wouldn’t surprise me.
