Not a lot of people are aware that Disney offers a way to easily save for your dream vacation, and get rewarded at the same time! A few years ago, Disney started the Disney Vacation Account for guests to save a little bit of money at a time to use at a later date for their vacation, up to five years in advance.
You begin by estimating your trip cost by selecting which Disney Destination you are interested in traveling to, along with any additional expenses such as food, shopping, and airfare costs. Once you have created your vacation budget, you can begin to set up your savings plan. Accounts are contributed to automatically through scheduled payments via debit or credit card. You can also make instant contributions at any time, even by using Disney gift cards! The estimator will determine how much you need to save each month to reach your goal. Plans are contributed to on either a weekly, bi-monthly, or monthly schedule, whichever way suits you best!
The website also allows you to track your savings progress as you save, for those that love a visual to go with the savings. The visual will show your savings predictions, so you can always alter the amount you save based on your goals, should your vacation plans change.
When it’s time to book your vacation, you will receive $20 for every $1000 spent on a qualified vacation purchase with your account, up to $500. The current expiration date for this offer is 12/31/2017, but that could likely be extended.
Is this the best way for you to save money for your Disney vacation? No, it’s not. You can definitely get more interest on your money elsewhere. This service is more for people that like to earmark their money for specific items. Disney vacations can be very expensive, so it’s important to budget and save for it as far in advance as possible. At least it does reward you for using the service!
The best part is, you can still use a Disney Vacation Planner to help you with all the details!
If you can’t plan that far in advance, then know that you can always make no interest payments on a Disney vacation after it has been secured with a deposit. Balance due dates vary, depending on which Disney Destination you have chosen. The bottom line is the earlier you plan, the easier it is to save for it!
