It seems like we just got home from the Princess Half Marathon Weekend, and we’re getting ready to leave again for the Star Wars Half Marathon Weekend! Since this will be the inaugural race, it should be a fairly busy and packed weekend.
We will most likely be driving down on Wednesday and staying with my parents in Ocala so we can get to the expo right away Thursday morning. Also, my daughter’s birthday is next week, and I know my parents will want to see her since they can’t come up to Georgia as easily as we can visit Florida.
After seeing how personal shoppers and eBay sellers took over the expo at the Princess Half Marathon and scooped up popular merchandise, my husband really wants to make visiting the expo in the morning a priority. I’ll admit, I’m looking forward to seeing what kind of specialty merchandise will be available, although I’m not a big Star Wars fangirl. I enjoy the movies, and I have loved going to Disney in the past over Star Wars Weekends, but I’m not someone that gets overly excited about the latest and greatest Star Wars toy. When I think about some of the people that might be at the expo, it reminds me of the Saturday Night Live skit a couple of months ago about all the new merchandise from The Force Awakens. If you haven’t seen it, it’s pretty funny.
So, Thursday will be spent at the expo and checking in to our resort. We will be staying at Wyndham Bonnet Creek once again, and some of our friends are also staying there. The rest of the day will be spent taking things easy and catching up with friends before the fun of the weekend begins!
Friday will be Kenzie’s 100 meter dash. I purchased a super cute dress on Etsy for her to wear during her race. Then after a quick nap back at the resort, we will head over to Hollywood Studios to celebrate my baby turning 2! Last month, we literally just stayed in the Animation Courtyard, visiting Disney Junior characters. Surprisingly, we have not yet done a character meal with Kenzie, so her first one with be at Hollywood & Vine for dinner that night. Minnie’s Springtime Dine recently started there, and if you have read my blog or followed me on Facebook much, you know how much Kenzie LOVES Minnie Mouse. I can’t wait to see how she reacts to characters coming to her.
Saturday morning will be my 10K, followed by more relaxation at the resort. Over the weekend, I posted about a possible ticketed preview for Rivers of Light that night. While my husband won’t be interested in being out late the night before his half marathon, I am still considering going on my own. I have a feeling some people I know that will be down there at the same time would be interested in going, so we just have to wait and see if Disney makes an official announcement soon.
Sunday will be my husband’s half marathon, followed by a quick trip back to Hollywood Studios to have medal pictures taken with some of the Star Wars characters. We might have to see the Disney Junior characters once again for Kenz, and then we will hit up Epcot after a quick nap.
Monday is our last full day, so we like to end on a high note at the Magic Kingdom. We usually expect Kenzie to take a nap in her stroller on this day, but that doesn’t always work out for us. She gets so excited when we’re there, it’s hard to get her to sleep. But because it’s so difficult to leave the Magic Kingdom for a nap at the resort, we tough it out. She recently became obsessed with Rapunzel, so I was sure to make a FastPass to visit her that day. I’ve been desperately searching for a Placard Original Rapunzel dress, but so far I’m not having any luck. That might have to wait for September.
